THE STORY OF PRESH AND HER MOTHER
Once upon a time, in a small village nestled in the rolling hills of Nigeria, there lived a young girl named Presh. She was a bright and cheerful 12-year-old who lived with her mother in a small, cozy hut.
Presh's father had passed away when she was just a baby, and her mother, Ada, worked tirelessly as a farmer to provide for their family. Despite the hardships, Presh and her mother were incredibly close, and their bond grew stronger with each passing day.
However, their life was not without its challenges. With no helper to assist with household chores, Presh had to take on a lot of responsibilities from a young age. She would wake up early every morning to help her mother with the cooking, cleaning, and fetching water from the nearby well.
As the years went by, Presh's workload only increased. She would attend school during the day, and then return home to help with the household chores. Her mother, despite her best efforts, was struggling to keep up with the demands of farming and taking care of their home.
Presh's friends would often invite her to play with them after school, but she would have to decline, knowing that she had to get back home to help her mother. She felt like she was missing out on a normal childhood, but she knew that she had to do her part to support her mother.
One day, the villagers decided to come together to help Presh and her mother. They organized a community day, where everyone would come together to help with the household chores and farm work.
Presh was overjoyed when she saw the villagers arriving at their hut, armed with brooms, mops, and farming tools. For the first time in her life, she felt like she had a break from her responsibilities. She was able to play with her friends, and even helped out with some of the lighter tasks.
From that day on, the villagers made it a point to regularly check in on Nneoma and her mother, offering their assistance whenever it was needed. Presh was finally able to enjoy a more carefree childhood, knowing that she had a supportive community behind her.
As she grew older, Presh never forgot the kindness and generosity of her community. She made it a point to pay it forward, helping out those in need and spreading joy and kindness wherever she went. And she always remembered the lesson she learned from her childhood: that even in the toughest of times, there is always hope and always help available, as long as you have a supportive community behind you.
